Once you manage to get content to a video screen in the Visualizer, we can output it to the physical outputs on your graphics card.

Adding a virtual video output

We’ll start by opening Video output window (going to Window and clicking Video output on or press F6). Then let’s right-click on the empty area on the right side and select Add video output in the submenu.

Setting resolution of the output

A new window will open where we select the resolution of this output. In most cases, this should be the same as the resolution of the physical screen you have connected to your graphics card. After you’ve clicked OK a black rectangle appears on the right side which represents your output.

Adding a screen to a video output

On the left side of this window, you should see all your video screens stacked vertically. Right-click on one of them, hover over Add to video output and select the output you just created. After doing that, you’ll see the video screen appearing on the output on the right side. Feel free to move it around if you want.

Moving the screen to top left corner of the output

If you want to align it back to the output, just right click on the screen on the left and select Top left in the menu that appears. Your screen will jump back to the top left corner of the output it is mapped to.

There is one more step we have to do before we can output any content. And that is to bind the virtual output to a physical output.

Binding virtual outputs to physical outputs

If you right-click on the output rectangle on the right side of the Video output screen and hover over Bind to, you’ll see a submenu similar to this:

This submenu varies depending on the number and the resolution of the screens (or EDID managed outputs) you have connected to your computer. The section on the top of this submenu is where Lightact lists the screens it detects on your computer. In the image above, for example, you see 2 lines starting with “1920 x 1080”.

In the parenthesis, you see the coordinates of each of them relative to the top left corner of the primary display. The primary display usually has (@0,0) in the parenthesis. If you select one of the screens listed in this section the menu will close and the virtual output will be bound to this screen.

Custom mapping of virtual outputs to physical outputs

In the lower section of this submenu, you can enter custom coordinates of where you’d like to send the content of your screen to. If you use this feature you have to click Place here button.

Once that’s done you should see the content on the physical screens you selected.

Unbinding a virtual output from a physical one

If you want to make any changes, you can unbind the output by again right-clicking on the virtual output on the right side of the window and selecting Unbind.
